Hello - That's unfortunate that you found this to be a negative experience, however, we did not interview anyone for a Software Engineer position in October 2022. If you did interview, I would have been the one to conduct that as I am the People Operations Manager. I'm not sure what your gauge is for "unprofessional" and "unfair"? I treat everyone with respect in these calls. These initial screenings are to do exactly what you stated, get to know you and your background and experience and to see if it lines up with what is needed for the role. Along with that, we are gauging motivation for the role and the work ethic you would bring to the company. If these things didn't line up with what we were looking for, we move on to the next candidate. I keep rejections rather vague for the most part, but if a candidate ever asks for more feedback, I'm happy to give that out.
