A phone screen followed by an in-person interview that I was told would not be technical, which was technical. General OOP questions and three whiteboarding questions, one of which involved writing a SQL query. Not what I was told to expect.
After that, I was told the interview process was over and I would just hear back with a decision. Until I got an email asking me to complete a PHP coding assessment where I was asked to write a PHP app to manipulate JSON data. Again, totally out of left field, especially since they knew I had no PHP experience and told me I could just learn on the job. Poor communication by HR and the team.
Then, they called me in to "meet the team". When I arrived, it turned out to be another interview where the manager went through a list of behavioural and situational questions. The email about the meeting was very misleading about the nature of the interview.
Finally, I got an offer which is significantly lower than market rate. When I tried to negotiate, they said salary is non-negotiable and offered nothing else to try to bridge the gap. They also told me overtime would be paid with time off in lieu but refused to include it in the contract.
They only gave me two business days to review the offer and give them a response. They also wanted me to start almost immediately, within 5 calendar days of me seeing the offer. I managed to get the start date pushed, but they were reluctant to. Meanwhile, their contract required me to give them 4 weeks notice if I wanted to quit. I rejected the offer.
The whole process took about 3.5 weeks.
Overall, incredibly unprofessional with poor communication. The emails often had typos and weren't always polite, not to mention incredibly misleading and downright inaccurate in some cases with regards to the hiring process. I got the impression that this company preys on people who are inexperienced and don't know any better when it comes to a healthy work environment or fair compensation. Avoid.
