I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Edward Jones
Interview
The initial experience begins with an online application and submission of resume. From that point the application is reviewed and I was sent an invitation to fill out another online application. After that I was contacted by a recruiter who sent me a pdf packet of the process and what to expect. I was also scheduled for a phone Screen. Note that the sample salaries listed are based off of a three year average income of 90k.
The phone screen is a basic interview with situation specific questions. ie) Tell me about a specific time when... and ask questions about Edward Jones.
After the phone screen I was scheduled for a face to face interview in a branch office. That interview is conducted from a packet of questions and a financial advisor. The advisor writes the answers down below each question. The face-to-face interview has more "tell me a time" type questions. This is a great time to ask the adivsor about his opinion of the job.
After the face-to-face interview a background check was completed and I was asked to complete a business plan and do a trial run door-to-door surveying. This is vital as EJ business model is based off of building a business through door to door prospecting. I was given a week to complete the business plan and survey activity.
Edward Jones actually followed up on the background check. They called my previous employers and I was required to send paystubs and tax returns to verify employment with my current employer since I didn't want them contacted.
After this step there is another phone interview. Quite the same as the other interviews. They discuss the business plan and survey activity as well.
At this stage your I was in regular contact with two recruiters and was scheduled for a 4 hour "day in the life" assessment. The assessment is a fast paced simulation of a day as a FA. I had to deal with branch problems, client complaints, compliance issues, and still find time to follow up sold and unsold clients via phone and email. If you don't have phone/sales experience this could be rough. Immediately after the assessment I was questioned on my opinion of the experience and things I might have done differently.
A couple days later I was contacted by phone and told they were pleased with my performance and I would be receiving an offer in the next 48 hours.
Total process took about 2 months. It could have gone faster, but there were some scheduling conflicts. They were very east to work with regarding scheduling.

Interview
Very thorough screening process yet informative. There were several compliance tasks that need to be completed before an actual face to face meeting was conducted. Interviewers were willing to answer all questions regarding the firm, responsibilities, and expectations.
