Recruited via linked-in on the strength of my 30yrs Infrastructure design background (second time in 3yrs - First time with inside HR, 2nd time with outside firm). It took well over 6wks to secure an interview both times, after 6wks in their provisioning system.. I figured I give it a shot a second time... I'm working for a global professional services firm and wanted to get off the road.
First, The E&Y process takes way too long and my feeling is they get leftovers b/c they frustrate candidates with ridiculous delays and lack of feedback
1st interview - HR ... benign conversation - took her 2weeks to arrange an interview
2nd interview - Panel discussion - Jim Kao is really on his game so be prepared... They get into the weeds on specific technologies. If you don't know, say you don't know!!! The problem is NO ONE can know everything about everything.... Impossible to have deep knowledge on Compute, Security, Network, Storage, DB , Network, integration, Cloud, devops, & ITIL,... those are the questions and expectation that you be fluent and have deep knowledge on... If you have 8 of 10 you will be passed on, 4 of 10, forget it... 6 strong, 4 decent knowledge.. they'll pass... It's a tough interview, so if you're looking for a place to grow in areas of weakness.. You will not be invited to work at E&Y
Full Disclosure, I'm not 10 of 10... My SQL & security knowledge is moderate (but this is why SME's exists) ... Also, while I've solutioned cloud architecture in Azure, AWS etc.... the depth of knowledge is moderate also (but then, this is a relatively new technology and no one can have width and breadth of knowledge on any one cloud technology as it's still evolving )
Summarizing, they passed on my background and I'm not disappointed at all.. I don't know if driving to an office to sit in a cubicle every day is worth it or fits my career goals... Clearly other organizations recognize that the nature of solution design doesn't require sitting in a cubicle all day... If you want workplace flexibility, this is not the place for you. E&Y touts that they bring in contractors and that those people have been there for a years beyond their initial contract. Lastly, contractor or FTE you will be dropped into their employee provisioning system which is a resume black hole.. It took them 6wks to respond to my resume and another 6wks to get an interview (with the same people I spoke with almost 3yrs ago)
Thus between the long delays in their process and exclusionary interview process, they don't seem to respect the people that may want to work there.
