I had a telephone interview with Dow Janes and had an experience that was quite unexpected. Given the company's mission of promoting financial freedom for women, I was surprised that the questions and the interviewer’s approach did not align with these values.
Before the interview even began, the interviewer mentioned that my profile was "too technical." Despite my efforts to clarify that my experience combines customer relations and technical knowledge, my responses were repeatedly dismissed. It felt as though a decision had been made before the conversation even started.
Additionally, when asked about my long-term goals, I included my perceived financial growth as part of my response. The interviewer seemed offended by this, which was particularly ironic given the company’s focus on financial empowerment.
Finally, the interview concluded with a comment that I was "too loud" for the immediate manager, which left me questioning the fairness and inclusivity of the hiring process.
I wanted to share this feedback as I believe a company’s recruitment experience should reflect its core mission and values.
