I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Daan Go (Scarborough, ON)
Interview
They replied to my application within a few hours and asked me to commit to a “trial shift” after the main interview which would “be an 2hr shift (unpaid training)”. From one job hunter to another: UNPAID TRAINING IS ILLEGAL IN ONTARIO, and if you committed to it at Daan Go, you’ve been cheated out of your time. 15-30 minutes to demonstrate what you know is totally understandable - 2 hours is an *absurd* amount of time to commit for a minimum wage job interview. After I replied that I would like to either attend a shorter trial shift or be reimbursed for my training time as per the Employment Standards Act, they ghosted me about the rest of the interview, which tells me the “unpaid training” couldn’t be justified as anything other than them trying to get unpaid labour. Trying to squeeze unpaid labour out of job hunters is SO unbelievably scummy. It’s very clear to me that they don’t value anyone’s time, so don’t waste yours here.

You get to spend a couple of hours (3-4) learning the job expectations such as decorating cakes and preparing orders. After that, the manager will interview you and ask you questions regarding your prior job experience and availability. Make sure to bring an apron, bandana/cap, copy of your resumé, and potentially a snack.
