I recently interviewed at Cracku for an SEO Executive fresher role, and honestly, the experience left me confused and disappointed.
I prepared extremely hard and felt confident about SEO. Before the interview, I was given an assignment and asked not to use ChatGPT. I did use it slightly for improvement, not for generating everything, and I openly admitted that.
In the interview, I was asked just five questions—and none of them were about SEO. They were all about IPMAT: what it is, how many students take it every year, which month the exam happens, etc.
When I couldn’t answer some of those factual questions, I said I’d naturally learn such details while working. The interview then turned into a lecture about why assignments are given and why ChatGPT shouldn’t be used, instead of testing my actual SEO knowledge.
I fully accept that using Chat GPT was a mistake. But as a fresher, I believe interviews should focus more on fundamentals, thinking ability, and willingness to learn. I didn’t even get a chance to show what I know about SEO—and that part hurt the most.
