      Product Owner Interview

      Oct 31, 2016
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Madrid
      Declined offer
      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Cospa & Agilmic (Madrid) in Sep 2016

      Interview

5 Interviews were done: 1.- Recruiting company, personal interview in Madrid, which did the first interview, they were professional, took care of all parts of the process and did proper follow up until the very end, 2.- Company's CTO, skype, located in Argentina, nice person, I could ask many questions and get details of the position that gave me an idea about what was expected, position wasn't really defined and some doubts arose 3.- Development manager, personal interview in Madrid, nice person again, long interview (2 hours), more a chat than an interview, I got more information about position, work conditions, schedules.... concerned about implication and my immediate incorporation, I asked for 2 weeks of advance to end some freelance works i was doing at the time. 4.- Head of HR, skype, located in Argentina, interview oriented to conflict resolution, people management, and complex projects management, 60 minutes, very down to earth person, i was confortable. 5.- Company's CEO, personal in Madrid, a brief chat, 20 minutes about background and product management, relaxed, it was more for him to know who they were going to hire. I received an offer 1 week after last interview, all process took a bit more of a month, for an incorporation in 10 days, instead of 15 days requested. I answered asking to be incorporated later, as i had already a travel booked and freelance projects to end, and asking about some details of the offer to see if we could reach an agreement, usual negociation process. After just one mail, offering immediate incorporation, instead of initial 10 days, and even more restricting conditions, I requested to speak one more time, and see if we could get an agreement as the proposed conditions didn't suite me No answer, I waited one week, and at 8th day i received a call from hiring company asking me about the process, as they do not intervene in all process, just at the beginning, I explained situation and they offered to call the company to see what happened. Next day hiring company received an email telling that they have to reconsider my appliance,if i wasn't speaking with hiring company i would not have any notice about status of the offer. In my opinion that's very unprofessional, they didn't have a reason to not have told me directly that they would not accept my conditions so I can consider offer and maybe change my mind, or not. This was really a surprise, as the rest of the process was smooth, in negotiation we were polite, words were respectful by both parts, and i was open to negotiate.... I rejected offer.
