      IOS Developer Interview

      Feb 28, 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Toronto, ON
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Connected (Toronto, ON) in Feb 2018

      Interview

Applied online by the end of Jan 2018. Got an email soon on Feb 2nd after asking me to complete a 2-hr Hackerrank coding challenge. 2 algorithms questions, 2 MC. I have done these problems before. So I completed in 30 min on Friday night. Never heard anything back. I thought it was a no-go. But somehow got his email after 10 days wanting to set up a onsite interview. But I was away on the date he suggested therefore I asked for a reschedule 1 week later. Never got his response again. Sent him an email after another 10 days. Another HR contacted me claiming to take over the process. Finally, I went for a onsite interview. Background, work experience. Then 1 whiteboard algorithm question (leetcode, find missing number) and iOS architecture questions. I did very well. But they rejected me a day later. What a waste of time....

      Interview

First a phone interview followed by and in-person interview focusing on test driven development. Although I personally found the interview hard, the interviewers did were courteous and used the full time to fully assess my skills. What's better is the fact that an HR Personnel actually reached and said they won't proceed with my application. No harm done, I wished them well and that was that! Thanks for being courteous and reaching out to candidates about their application process instead of ghosting them, it is much appreciated.

      Ios Software Engineer Interview

      Apr 20, 2018
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Toronto, ON
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Connected (Toronto, ON) in Apr 2018

      Interview

I applied through a Hiring company. So I received an email to set-up an on-site interview. The on-site interview was really cool. Two Software Engineers interviewed me and showed me the office and their plans for expansion. Then, I was invited to enter into a meeting room and we talked about my previous experience, the company and what the engineers do there. They asked me general things about iOS Development and behavioral questions. The guys were really friendly and helpful and I felt comfortable during the interview. So, they asked me to solve two problems on the whiteboard. Two days after the interview, I received an email from the Recruiting Coordinator saying thanks for my application but that they would not follow the recruitment process, what it's okay. When I asked for a feedback I was answered with the following words: "Thank you for your email and asking for feedback. Unfortunately, you just weren't a fit for what we're looking right now - and we wouldn't be able to disclose anything else other than that. I apologize I cannot help you further, but I'm wishing you the best in your future endeavours!" Maybe were my English skills, may was how I answered the questions and I really understand. But when a company has no transparency on its recruitment process and also doesn't have the ability to give the candidates a feedback, something is really wrong. Now I'm really happy to haven't received a job offer.
