I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at CodeScience (Chattanooga, TN) in Sep 2019
Interview
I applied online and got an interview request 2 days later. I had a screener (video call) with a recruiter 2 days after that.
The first negative experience was when the recruiter rescheduled the interview a couple hours before it was to start, moving it later in the day. I had plans that I ended up canceling to accommodate this new time.
The conversation was pleasant and consisted of standard questions: "Tell me about yourself...", "What do you know about CodeScience", etc. It ended on a good note and I was told they'd get back to me in a few days.
A week later I got an email from the recruiter stating hiring had "hit a bump and [they] aren't moving as fast as [they] usually do." Essentially, hiring for the position had been put on hold for some reason, but they'd keep my application for when they start back up again.
Three days after I received that email, I got a rejection email. Strange and almost dishonest if you ask me, since I had just been told they weren't hiring right now. Oh well.
I am very sorry that you had a negative experience interviewing with us. It is rare that we have to reschedule interview meetings but it does happen from time to time, unfortunately. We try to mitigate the impact by allowing candidates to select their preferred time to connect with the team through our calendaring system.
Our hiring needs are dynamic and we are very intentional about evaluating our need and communicating that need to candidates. We also like to keep our applicant tracking system clean by closing out requisitions that we are not currently hiring for. Based on your feedback, we will review the messaging in those emails and ensure that it is clear. We do keep resumes on file to reconnect with qualified candidates when new positions open and encourage all candidates to check back on our careers page as we are always updating/adding new positions.
