      Senior QA Manager Interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Careem (Amman) in Feb 2024

      Interview

I want to share my recent experience during the interview process for a Senior Quality Manager position based in Amman - Jordan. While I appreciate the opportunity to be considered for the role, I believe it's crucial to provide constructive feedback on certain aspects of the recruitment process. Firstly, the cancellation of the final interview just 30 minutes before its scheduled time was unexpected and, frankly, unprofessional. I completely understand that scheduling conflicts can arise, but the lack of timely communication and transparency in rescheduling the interview left me with an unsettling impression. They assured in their cancellation email that they will reach out to schedule a new interview. However, I never received any follow-up communication regarding a rescheduled interview. Instead, I received an automated email a week later, stating that the company had chosen to proceed with another candidate. This lack of closure is disheartening and reflects poorly on the company's commitment to communication and professionalism. Furthermore, the tone of the emails sent before each interview was unconventional and, in my opinion, unprofessional. Phrases such as "don't be taken by surprise if we ask you extremely difficult questions" and "compose yourself and think about your answers first" were not only unnecessary but also inconsistent with the level of the position being interviewed for. In over 12 years of experience in hiring and interviewing, I have never used or encountered such communication practices, even with entry-level candidates. Additionally, as a candidate based in a different time zone, the lack of coordination and consideration for the significant time difference was evident throughout the process. Proper communication and offering options that consider the candidate's location and availability are essential components of a well-organized recruitment process, especially for managerial positions. I understand that companies may find candidates who are better suited for a position, and I am not contesting that decision. However, the lack of professionalism and communication during this process has left me with reservations about the company's overall management and operational practices. I believe that a robust and transparent recruitment process is a reflection of a company's culture, and performance.
