I applied through university. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Caixin (Hong Kong) in Oct 2022
Interview
The journalist is very friendly and nice. She says it will be very busy but rewarding working for them. Also, interns can also contribute to the work online, so it's not just an internship doing research or fetching coffee.

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Caixin (Beijing, Beijing) in Apr 2022
Interview
Did two writing tests, spent two weekend afternoons on them. Then an hour on the phone with the editor, then proceeded to an in-person interview with HR.
HR asked in the first 3 minutes if you planned to have kids, said "the company needs to know." HR asked more questions about my husband and our financial plans. My husband had nothing to do with my application.
Went silent for a week until you asked for a follow up, only to be told they only had a budget for half of what I made at that time. So it's a junior position but the hiring process was very long and the salary was very low.
