After five rounds of interviews, the final stage involved a presentation to three people I had previously spoken with. Despite bringing years of experience in the field and putting significant time and effort into a detailed case study, the experience was deeply disappointing.
The interviewers arrived late to my presentation, and the overall tone from certain panel members was dismissive and disrespectful throughout the process. It made for one of the most demoralizing interview experiences I've had in my career.
Given the level of preparation and experience candidates are expected to bring, a baseline of professionalism in return doesn't feel like too much to ask. Worth noting: the role has been reposted continuously for months without being filled, which may say something about the broader hiring process.
30 minute technical, 30 minute behavioral. Technical was trivia-style, and then they showed a component of a website and asked you how you would build it to work as how they showed you. Behavioral was typical.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Branch (NY) in Apr 2024
Interview
The process for this role was straightforward and started with a phone screen with HR, followed by a 45-minute video interview with that same individual.
Our conversation was pleasant, as expected, and I learned more about Branch and the role.
The reason why the experience was negative is because they ghosted.
Doing that at any stage of an interview process is discourteous, but once candidates have been moved into the actual 1:1 interviewing stage, it's flatly unprofessional.
