      Senior PHP Developer Interview

      Jul 24, 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Chester, England
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Blueleaf (Chester, England) in Jul 2015

      Interview

Summary of their full selection process: 1st stage telephone interview (technical) with lead developer, 2nd stage telephone interview (personality screening) with CEO followed by an "experience day" and then, presumably, an offer or rejection. This review is for the 2nd stage. My 1st stage interview went well, but things took an unexpected turn on the 2nd stage interview! For a start, he started to ask rather inappropriate questions pretty much right off the bat. How old am I? Am I married and so on. Not a good feeling - and mostly illegal to boot! - but I answered without flinching as I wasn't really bothered per se. Things went more downhill when he realised that I wouldn't be able to make it to their Chester office at the drop of a hat. I was interviewing for a remote working position! Tellingly, the negativity around this came from him first and he seemed to have decided *for me* that I wouldn't be able to make it and that the role wouldn't be suitable for me.
