      Accounting Interview

      Mar 8, 2011
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Austin, TX
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Apple (Austin, TX) in Mar 2011

      Interview

First 30 minutes was an interview with their head of the Department. First, it was like any interview where he asked me questions, such as "tell me about a time you worked on a team. Did it go well? What things could you have done differently to make it better?" He then asked actual accounting questions, such as "when would you defer a revenue rather than recognize it right away?" and "why would you capitalize an asset rather than expense it?" Overall, half of the interview was situational and more based on my personality while the remaining 15 minutes was testing my accounting knowledge. Then, he asked if I had extra time to consult with another employee whom he brought along. She asked basically the same questions, and he said they would later compare answers.
