      Specialist Interview

      Application

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Apple (Montreal, QC) in May 2010

      Interview

I was called in to attend an Apple Recruiting Seminar with about 15 other people that last two hours. When I entered the store, the Apple employees didn't reach out to shake my hand - I think they wanted to see who would take the initiative to shake theirs. Keep in mind this whole seminar is a hiring process and they are looking at everything you do. I was asked to fill out a form with a series of about 20 technical questions on the back, some of which could be pretty difficult (How would you explain what an Operating System is to a customer?), at least for me. This is not as important as how you present yourself, however. We then started with an Apple promotional video and were then asked to make observations. We then went around the whole group and were asked to introduce ourselves, list a "fun fact" and explain why we wanted to work for Apple. After that we were shown a series of presentations of videos, stopping in between each one to ask questions or make observations. No role play or presentations (thank god!). The goal is to present yourself very enthusiastically so that you stand out from the group. Participate whenever you can but don't raise your hand if you don't have something intelligent to say. I spoke about three times aside from my introduction.

      Interview

It’s a very long process so have patience. Sometimes they will give you feedback but if you are external you will just receive a turn down email. Keep applying. Apple says it’s not a NO. It’s a not now and that’s very true.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

How do you define success in your role?

      Interview

Famously competitive as always, my odds were better since I kept updating my resume whenever I was on the job search. They reached out to me first by email, I completed an application, and then had three rounds of interviews in total.

      Question 1

Tell me about a time when you had to work with someone hesitant to learn.
