The recruiter reached out to me via text and email to coordinate our interview. During our phone interview, she asked me standard questions (e.g., “Tell me about yourself” and “What are your looking for in a company?”).
Two things about our conversation that I found troubling:
-The way she talked about the CEO. She referred to him as “Mr. Porter” (which gave me 1960s office vibes) and described him as “no nonsense” and “very involved.” Yikes.
-The work schedule. I’ve worked remotely the past several years and enjoy a great deal of flexibility (which I assumed was the norm for remote work?). The recruiter indicated that the company abides by a fairly strict 8-5 CST schedule (regardless of where you live) with an hour lunch break. Working for a global company with employees who work remotely from different time zones, I found this strict schedule odd.
I emailed the recruiter after our interview to remove myself from the process.
