      Vendor Manager Interview

      Sep 3, 2015
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Los Angeles, CA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Amazon (Los Angeles, CA) in Oct 2014

      Interview

I had one phone screen where the questions were straight forward concerning your professional background. I also had a second phone interview. It lasted about 1 hour. Must be able to walk the interviewer through your resume but without reading it (they have already read it!) Prepare something unique or insightful about "your story" from your resume. The third part would have been an in-person all day interview in Seattle. Unfortunately, I did not go because of a conflict with my master's program which I had to finish first :(

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

Interviewer asked several questions that would set you up to use one of the leadership principles. For example, if Puma now required a higher MAD for the same product, what would you do as the vendor manager?

      Difficult interview

      Application

      Interview

The process was well-structured and followed Amazon’s typical interview format: 1. Recruiter Screening * Initial discussion about experience, role scope, and expectations * Basic behavioral and background questions 2. Hiring Manager Interview * Focus on past experience, business impact, and ownership * Mix of behavioral and situational questions 3. Interview Loop (3–5 interviews) * Multiple interviewers covering different Amazon Leadership Principles * Included a Bar Raiser interview * Heavy focus on: * Decision-making * Trade-offs * Metrics and impact * Depth of ownership

      Vendor Manager Interview

      Negative experience
      Difficult interview

      Application

I interviewed at Amazon (Toronto, ON)

      Interview

You start with an online assessment, which is relatively easy. Then a recruiter reaches out to you if you pass and will ask standard hiring questions. After which, you will then have a phone screen interview and if you pass, you do an interview loop with 5 people. Which is insane for a role that does not pay 100K annually. They also make you go prepare 12-20 STAR stories that you should pretty much memorize.

Tell me about a time you invented a process to make things simpler
