      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon in Dec 2021

      Interview

After the application, I was contacted for a first phone screen interview before a second phone screen interviews and written answers to questions, which I believe were as a writing test. I had a number of email and phone conversations with the recruiters over this period and leading up to the interview loop to discuss how the process would unfold and logistics of the role ie. location, and eventually compensation expectations as well. I was encouraged throughout the process to get in touch if I had any questions and they were good at responding in a timely and helpful way. The last stage of the process was the interview loop, a day of 6 virtual interviews individually with the Hiring Manager and 5 other current employees. Three days later I had a brief final interview virtually with the senior leader of the team before again speaking with the Hiring Manager and receiving an informal offer soon after, then a formal offer in writing after that.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They are all behavioral-based interview questions and there are many resources online to see what these look like. They aren't trick questions or brainteasers. Your goal should be to have good examples from your work life that are relevant to multiple leadership principles and make clear what your specific role was in things like solving product issues, resolving disagreements between yourself and colleagues, and thinking big. Really be able to define your role within these situations and what you specifically did or didn't do, rather than just your team as a whole.

      Interview

Phone Interview. The interview was straightforward enough, but some questions put me in a difficult position in terms of me being honest or telling them what they wanted to hear. They asked about how I would go about convincing a reticent community to offer them public incentives. I had differing philosophy with the company regarding public incentives; I answered honestly. It was not a good fit for either of us.

How would you go about convincing a community to offer incentives if they didn't initially offer any?
