      Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Amazon (Berlin) in Sep 2020

      Interview

The process started with me getting a referral from one of my friend who works at Amazon. The very next day I got an email from recruiter that they have gone through my resume and would like to do a phone screen. The first phone screen was more about the background and some behavioural questions. Few days after the phone screen, I was moved to the 2nd phone screen. This round was more technical and focused on product management areas. At the end of the interview I was asked to explain the most technical project I have worked on and a machine learning based project. Few days after the phone screen, I was moved to onsite loop. The onsite loop had 5 back to back interview with few minutes of gap in between. The onsite loop was similar to phone screen and focused on behavioural questions along with some technical questions. Generally, all interviewers asked me 3 questions per interview except the bar raiser, who asked me 5 questions. 2 days after the interview, I got a call from the recruiter that Amazon would like to make an offer! Few tips I would like to suggest: 1. Build a preparation framework: preparing for Amazon interview is very rigorous and takes a lot of time. The framework I used was preparing 2 stories per Leadership principle for the LPs that are more closely related to Product Management and 1 for rest. 2. Always remember to give details about your answer. Amazon doesn't want to hear high level answer. While answering do layout all the details especially the data points that helped you make a decision. Try to use data in all of your answers. Amazon loves data. 3. Role-play the answers with your friend. You should spend a good part of your preparation doing role-play with your friend to get comfortable with your answers and to also get a view of counter questions that the interviewer may ask. 4. For PMT roles, do point out technical things you have worked on. Amazon wants technical people as PMT. Make sure your technical angle comes out in your answers.

      Difficult interview

      Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Amazon (New York, NY) in Oct 2025

      Interview

Overall had a positive experience. I had an internal referral, which got my resume in front of the hiring team. The entire process took 6 weeks and was rather time intensive: - Recruiter screen / quick call - Online Assessment (quoted 90 min, took 3-4 hours) - 1 hour behavioral phone screen with a member of the extended team - Final round consisted of -- Panel with 5 behavioral interviews each 1 hour -- Writing assessment (1-2 pages) The debrief took place 3 business days after the final round and I got a verbal offer from the recruiter that day. My recruiters were very communicative and shared details about what LPs to focus on for each call, who I'd be speaking with, etc. All of the questions were behavioral and could be answered using STAR format -- even the ones aligned to PM functions (Product Roadmap, Stakeholder Management, Product Vision). There were no "hypothetical" PM style questions (eg "How would you assess which features to prioritize in your roadmap?") One thing I found helpful was to hear the question, determine which LP it maps to, then share the strongest story you have for that LP. Having an idea which stories I wanted to prioritize for each interviewer / LP helped me make sure I was sharing a diverse set of my strongest stories. Also would recommend checking out YouTube for what to expect. There are a lot of creators that will walk through what to expect and how to succeed at each stage. This + feedback from recruiters helped me prepare.

      Question 1

      - Give an example of a time you delivered an important project under a tight deadline. What tradeoffs or sacrifices did you make to meet that deadline? - Tell me about a time you were trying to understand a complex problem on your team and had to dig deep into the details. How did you use what you learned to solve the problem? - Describe a situation where you had to reprioritize work due to changing customer needs. What changed, and how did you adjust your approach?

Senior Product Manager - Technical Interview

      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

      Interview

Very strange interview process, it was for a technical PM role, yet no case, system design, or technical questions of any kind. All behavioral for essentially 6 interviews in a row, at some point it felt like I had run out of examples because I was getting the same questions over and over. I thought it was extremely well (I generally do well in behavioral interviews), however was not given an offer.
