      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Aug 2011

      Interview

Recruiter sent me an inmail on linkedin mentioning an opening in Amazon for SDE/SDET position for someone having at most 1 yr of experience. I sent over my latest resume and after one week or so got my first telephonic interview scheduled. First telephonic interview went pretty cool. I was asked some testing questions like write test cases for a class which does some arithmetic operations like Add,Subtract, Multiply and Division. One or two linked list questions like middle element of a singly linked list and merging point of two singly linked list. Some C++ questions like what is polymorphism, give an example of it. The main question he asked in that interview was : "How will you implement an LRU Cache" ? I have never actually looked at the answer on internet before so considering the fact that each time we need least recently used element I said, cache can be implemented using "Min Heap". Interviewer, then asked me couple of questions like what is the time complexity, how will insert delete work which, I answered pretty well and was confident enough of getting a second telephonic interview call. Basically, from his tone he was not interested in any data structure except something like LinkedHashMap. That's it for my first telephonic interview. After a week's time my second telephonic interview was scheduled confirming that I cleared my first telephonic . Second telephonic also went good except for one question which I failed to explain my answer correctly to the interviewer. This interviewer also asked some testing questions. (Tell me test cases for testing an API which implements binary search.) He asked me worst case and avg case complexity of binary search and how it works which I answered correctly. After which he asked me what if the array is circularly sorted how will you modify binary search to handle that case. This was the question I fumbled with. I was actually kind of knowing the answer but jumbled up in explaining him. The interviewer was an asian guy I think. He had terrible pronunciation and his voice was barely audible which even though I mentioned him he was adamant. I had hard time decoding what he is saying. That's how my second interview went.. After which I was in doubt as to whether they would call me for on site interview or may be schedule another telephonic interview (which they do if they are in some doubt). I did not got any response from recruiter for more than 10 days or so. So, I actually emailed him asking about the status to which he replied that Manger was not willing to go forward any more. He said he was not willing to go fwd after first telephonic itself. which kind of surprised me I can understand about my second telephonic that I screwed up in one question but my first one really went good. Recruiter didn't even has the courtesy to email me and let me know what's the status of my application which was kind of bad esp for a big company like Amazon. Thats it from me. If you are being interviewed for some testing position, prepare some test cases questions and for other questions you can go through cracking the coding interview book.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 5 months. I interviewed at Amazon (Vancouver, BC) in May 2024

      Interview

I applied through LinkedIn with reference. As usual, I received OA with middle LeetCode questions, which were pretty hard for me. After 4 month I was asked for Screening Interview, where recruiter explained me my interview path in 15 min. I scheduled my interview, but one day before I received an email about rescheduling and I was asked to give my schedule which I did. After one week I received another email, recruiter told me that the schedule doesn't work for them and I need to give another one (which is strange because I gave the whole week with business hours from 9 am till 6 pm). As soon as I sent my new schedule, I received the email that my position was filled already. This is the end of the story.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Amazon (Seattle, WA) in Dec 2021

      Interview

Answered well in both telephonic and loop rounds. But felt the panel was in a rush to select a candidate. Rather than listening to the candidate they were taking down the notes. I am sure they must have missed few important points. Few of the interviewers in the panel are neither knowledgable nor interested. Not a good experience at all. Surprised to see such dumb candidates taking interviews in amazon !
