I applied online. I interviewed at Aeolus Robotics in Jul 2022
Interview
I applied for "Robotics Software and Integration Engineer" at first since I plan to apply for an entry-level first as a fresh graduate. During the first interview with HR, HR told me the company has another position, "Intermediate Software Engineer", and ask me if I am interested to apply. I said I am okay with that after viewing the job description that HR sent me. I could try it. Therefore, following my second interview is a Technical Interview for the "Intermediate Software Engineer" position.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
I spent almost 1-hour answering the Technical Interviewer's questions on the introduction of myself, my dissertation, what skills I used in the dissertation, asking mechanical design problems that he was interested in my dissertation, and why I left my previous job. During 1 hour technical interview, he does not really ask me software questions. Most time he asked me about mechanical design questions. I non-stop answer his questions and almost lose my voice. I even do not have time to ask him relevant technical questions, but 1 hour is almost running out. It seems that the technical interviewer tries to learn from candidates but candidates do not have a chance to ask technical questions. After the interview, I got a rejection letter within the same day, saying my skills are not at the level that they require.
I applied for a software engineer position. I assumed that they will ask me Python, Git version control, or ROS questions. But the technical Interviewer asked me mechanical questions. Then sent an email telling me that my skills are not at the level that they require.
It does not make sense. Do they try to find someone to practice?! This totally wastes candidates' time. Since as candidates, we all spend time and do our best to prepare for interviews. Anyway, this is a super "interesting" company; be aware and careful.
Dear candidate,
thank you for your feedback. We are continuously working on improving our recruitment process for it to be more efficient and shorter. We will pass your case to the senior management in our organization to avoid such situations in the future.

Application
I interviewed at Aeolus Robotics (Taipei)
Interview
There are 5 steps of the interview (takes some time). I only went through 2 steps. First, the HR will talk to you. Then, there is a coding interview 4 questions/6 hours.
I applied online. I interviewed at Aeolus Robotics
Interview
The process took 3 months before I had to drop out. I suspect that it would have taken closer to two months without problems. My process spanned over Christmas, which delayed it by 2 weeks. I also applied for a second role within the company which somehow messed up the process and delayed it by a couple of weeks. Also, I took 2 weeks before making time for a coding test. All people involved were very pleasant to talk and the technical tests were not too difficult to but HR could be a bit slow to respond.
The steps I went through:
-20min initial interview with HR.
-2-6h coding test with 4 simple tests.
-1.5h technical interview including relevant questions and whiteboard coding.
-0.5h "final" HR interview.
-1h second technical interview
-1h interview with software lead with some additional info about the role.
The process could be streamlined, but my case involved some abnormalities. Aeolus should improve the handling of applicants applying for multiple roles and try sticking to a process with fewer steps that is clear to the applicant.
t's a long process, but it was all very pleasant. If I would have taken the role in the end, I would have felt like they knew exactly who they hired.
Dear candidate,
thank you for your feedback. We are continuously working on improving our recruitment process for it to be more efficient and shorter. Right now, our process, based on the candidates' and interviewers’ availability and how fast the candidate completes the codility online test, takes up to 4 weeks.
