Associate Client Service Consultant-Norfolk, VA Interview

      Apr 19, 2018

      Norfolk, VA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ADP (Norfolk, VA) in Apr 2018

      Interview

I recently applied to ADP and I have to say the interview process went very well! The building itself is immaculate in my opinion. First, I applied online for three positions. Immediately for one of the positions I received an email that I was not a good fit for the position. For the other two positions I received an assessment for one and was scheduled for a phone interview for the other. The phone interview went very well. The interviewer was very professional and courteous in providing me with all the details of the job. She asked roughly about 3 -4 behavioral questions of course STAR format. I highly recommend studying this set-up and researching the background of the company. Upon the conclusion of the phone interview, she informed me it was a pleasure speaking with me and I told her likewise which was the truth. She informed me if I passed the phone interview I would receive a link to take the assessment. Roughly two hours later I received the link to the assessment and submitted it. Thirty questions pertaining to grammar for which I felt went well. Two hours later I had a missed call from ADP on my phone. Spoke to a recruiter pertaining to another position that I applied for and she felt I would be a great fit for. I was excited and was later scheduled for an interview. Moving along to the day of the interview, I interviewed with one human resource manager first followed by another manager who came in for a continuation. Word of advice, be clear about what you can bring to the company and where you fit. The first interview was primarily STAR based the second interview was more personality based. From my perspective I thought I done wonderful, however, I was not offered the job. Like many others, we can sit and wonder why but who knows. The only thing I can think of is the diversity of my education. I have two degrees in two separate areas of study that are completely different from one another and perhaps they may have thought I was indecisive about what I wanted to do. But again, this is reaching and in no way was implied to me as a negative factor during the interview. I would advise while you wait to hear back from ADP to keep looking for other job possibilities. I’m so happy I did, and what’s ironic the same day I received my rejection letter from ADP I received an employment offer from another company I interviewed with three days after my interview with ADP. In addition, the position fit my personality a little better along with a higher starting salary! As far as improvement on their end, the only area I see that can be improved is on the technical/communication side of the house. For instance, I received an email that I was not a fit for the position I applied for although their internal application system states, “results are still pending” even days after receiving the rejection letter. So be sure to check both their internal system along with your email. In addition, there was a position in their system requiring additional information from me that I did not apply for. I thought perhaps they wanted to put me in for another position, so I updated the information they required of me. Later the next day pertaining to this position I received an email that I wasn’t a good fit. Which was odd, because I didn’t apply for it to begin with and they requested the extra information from me. This was slightly confusing. Could I have perhaps been confused with someone else? In conclusion, I believe ADP is a good company with wonderful opportunities and I was honored they reached out to me. Wishing the company continued success!
