      Energy Engineer Interview

      May 1, 2019
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Maplewood, MN
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Easy interview

      Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at 3M (Maplewood, MN) in Apr 2019

      Interview

Applied on the 3M website and was contacted a few weeks later by phone. This first interview seemed to be a list of questions that the employee was required to ask, based on previous experience and understanding of the role. I was contacted again a few days later and was told I had moved onto an on site interview. I confirmed a date that would work for me, and was told I would receive an email with more details. The next day I received an email with further details and was asked to confirm that I had received the email. Less than an hour after responding, I received a reply that due to a hiring freeze, they could not move forward with the hiring process at this time, and that they would contact me in a few months to continue the process. A colleague of mine had the very same situation happen to him a few months ago, and received the exact same email from the same 3M employee. I am not sure why 3M is doing this if they know that they will not be hiring any time soon, but it has left a very sour taste in my mouth, and I will not be perusing this opportunity.

Hello, Thank you for your review. We are so sorry to hear that your experience has been frustrating. We don’t know all of the specifics behind the hiring freeze, but unfortunately hiring freezes do happen in different businesses due to financial situations. Obviously, we would all prefer not seeing these disruptions in the hiring process, but each business will determine whether they can proceed and when they need to pause. Hopefully, if they contact you in the future, you will still consider 3M. Thank you for your feedback and we wish you the best in the future.
