Pros
Brand Name is counted as a Big 4
Cons
I was employed as an HR in this organization and have worked with Deloitte as well in the past. Below feedback is my personal opinion and experience as an employee: In my view, this is an extremely unprofessional workplace. While the partners want their issues closed ASAP, others can wait for months with no action. Partners are the extreme authority and no one can question them even if they harass us. They will say that they have an "open door policy", "we are approachable", "you can come to us with your concerns" but even if in the near run we see that the concern is addressed, during appraisals they will take it as a base point to judge the kind of person one is and performance ratings will get affected. I also feel, that the feedback forms are just as an activity in the namesake and during actual process, nobody considers what is written there. All that matters is how strongly one's manager puts forward the case and the fate is sealed if any partner supports him/her. Below are some of the appointment letter clauses that in my opinion can be used against an employee: 1) Working Hours - While the letters claim that the firm follows a 40 hrs. a week policy, it is also mentioned that, you may be required to work additional hours as appropriate for your role. This is a catch! 2) Audit Team - The Audit division in my view is the most problematic when it comes to work hours and culture. Working on weekends and odd hours is an expectation from all in the name of busy season. The catch is that they don't have a lean season due to a constant fight of getting more clients and revenue. The leadership constantly tightens the partners to have more and more productivity. Having extra resources is not an option. The resourcing is done basis manhours so whoever is reflecting lower than the group gets highlighted. The cases of supervisors using offensive and abusive language are also common with no action against them as Partners would agree among themselves that there is work pressure on Managers and at times they might resort to such practices to get work out of people. 3) The organization can terminate your services anytime "WITHOUT CAUSE." At any point, if they see an employee asking too many questions or doing anything that they don't like, they can recall this clause and put you on notice period without the obligation of giving you a reason. 4) In my view, many hidden clauses may also be a part of a document called 'People Handbook'. While the letters make it a part of the applicable clauses, you may not know what is written there unless you are already an employee. SO one is agreeing to the terms that one cannot even read until its too late. 5) Also, if someone resigns they can ask you to leave the very next day with no notice period applicable. So one cannot rely on 'I have 3 months for my LWD' thought process. 6) The employment agreement can be terminated without notice even in case of an 'omission' during your work. In a nutshell, my experience and opinion of this place after working for this firm as an HR Manager is completely negative. If I have to choose amongst the Big4's, KPMG India will be my last choice. My rating for the organization is 1 and the Audit culture will actually have to run in a negative!
