In recognition of Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day, we were pleased to host Rumeet Billan, Ph.D., who facilitated an impactful session for our global employees yesterday. A dedicated entrepreneur, speaker, author and humanitarian, Dr. Billan is known for her dedication to enhancing workplace cultures. Her mission is to cultivate trust, belonging and resilience through research, training and experience. During the session, she shared invaluable insights and solutions to address Tall Poppy Syndrome, where ambitious individuals face criticism as a result their achievements – a phenomenon that disproportionately impacts women in the workplace. Here’s how to combat Tall Poppy Syndrome: 1. Begin by raising awareness. 2. Hold people accountable. 3. Set a standard of transparency. 4. Adopt zero tolerance. 5. Invest in training for all employees and celebrate wins. At Canada Goose, we are dedicated to fostering a culture that values and amplifies the voices of women, empowering them to play a pivotal role in our shared success. We strive to break down barriers and create an equitable workplace where authenticity is always celebrated. Dr. Billan's takeaways have inspired our team, furthering our commitment to growth and inclusion. As we prepare to celebrate International Women’s Day and its theme #InspireInclusion, we invite you to follow our page this Friday as the #CGLeadershipTeam share their personal reflections on what it means to them.
In celebration of Black History Month, we welcomed Masai Ujiri to our Toronto HQ yesterday for a fireside chat with our CEO, Dani Reiss, C.M. OOnt.. Masai is Vice-Chairman & President of the Toronto Raptors, Co-Founder of Giants of Africa and a longtime friend of Canada Goose. Masai and Dani touched on a number of topics from friendship to leadership to representation of marginalized identities. Here are three takeaways from their chat: 1. Leveraging diversity for greater inclusion is more than representation. It is actively embracing and valuing the different perspectives and experiences that each person brings, creating an environment where everyone can thrive. 2. The importance of giving back to your community. Through initiatives like youth basketball camps, educational programs and community outreach, Masai’s Giants of Africa empowers young people with equitable opportunities, instilling values such as teamwork, resilience and leadership. 3. The significance of Black representation in leadership cannot be overstated. As the first African General Manager in the National Basketball Association (NBA), Masai acknowledged the responsibility to pave the way for broader representation across all industries, emphasizing the importance of always treating everyone with the respect and compassion they deserve. At Canada Goose, our employees are given three volunteer days per year to give back to their local communities and bring our purpose to keep the planet cold and the people on it warm to life. Each year, a select group of employees who volunteer are given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience our work with Polar Bears International (PBI) first-hand with a trip to Churchill, Manitoba – the polar bear capital of the world. Polar bears are on the front lines of climate change and an indicator species for the effects of global warming. Their survival is intricately tied to the health of the entire Arctic ecosystem, and by extension, the well-being of our global environment. For over 15 years, we've been a proud partner of PBI, an organization whose mission is to conserve polar bears and their fragile Arctic habitat. With the help of our employees and consumers, we have raised more than $6 million to support their research, conservation efforts and outreach around the world. In honour of International #PolarBearDay today, here’s an inside look at our employee’s experience last fall and the work Polar Bears International is doing to support the future of our planet. As part of our employee stories, today we are putting the spotlight on Brandon Charlemont, who was recently promoted to Team Lead at our immersive experience store located at Sherway Gardens, Toronto. What does our motto 'Canadian Warmth' mean to you? Canadian warmth means that as long as you can relate with people and treat them like you would want to be treated it's all up from there! It's all about the authenticity, humour, and comfort too. What is your favourite Canada Goose product? I'd say my favourite products are the Crofton Puffer and the HyBridge Knit Jacket. I always like to go for the black disc version of our products, I find it very sophisticated. Tell us about your passions outside of work? I am a sneaker head at heart. I love the history behind them, the tech evolving within them and the notoriety that comes with it as well. Canada Goose did a great job with their first sneaker collection launch last year! 👟 “Brandon’s knowledge, together with a confident, approachable, friendly style and palpable enthusiasm for the brand and product epitomize so much of what we mean by Canadian Warmth.” - Jonathan Sinclair, Canada Goose CFO
