Pros

Smart people who have good ideas Beautiful office building Free parking

Cons

This company hires really smart people that could do amazing things with their podcast product. But if you’re smart, then stay away. The company is like any startup trying to figure out their niche and market - do your homework. They are a 10+ year old startup that has a fleeting customer base of their video platform because the product is impossible to customize and use unless you’re a developer. Their internal podcast product has promise, but the CEO’s sales strategy and lack of people management skills could be its downfall. Only join as a sales rep if you like process, pricing, pitch, and opp qualification factors changing every day (often you’re not told when those change). If you appreciate the CEO joining your sales calls and derailing a deal by creating a bad customer buying experience- this is the job for you. Company tenure is about 9 months for the sales team. Either you leave because you want to save your sanity or you are laid off for not becoming a ‘yes’ man to the CEO.

Not worth your mental health

Pros

Great roadmap of what not to do.

Cons

This company is a sinking ship that’s already taking on water. The unfortunate thing is that with their product offering and talent pool it should not be. However, the one employee consistently stifling it... is the CEO. Through my tenure here. There was a 75% turnover rate with an overwhelming through line: The CEO’s continual verbal abuse of employees. The continual gaslighting and misinformation spread through her agenda is straight out of the pages of a shaksperian tragedy. If you’ve never read the book Bad Blood I’d encourage it before considering working here as that’s what you’ll be interacting with on a day to day basis. It is not worth the mental sanity it costs to take a job here.

Badly sinking ship

Pros

Talented development team, personable and talented CTO, decent product performance in spite of the CEO-driven unrest.

Cons

CEO is, at the same time, micromanaging everything and making nothing successful. Process, expectations, organizational strategy, what certain words mean, and how crazy you feel will change daily, and seemingly on a whim. Constant turnover of new and good talent, no growth strategy, promises made and not met, flagrant favoritism, zero ability to build meaningful momentum, senior members of the team encouraged to be abrasive (on the verge of abusive), and the blame is *still* placed on "the younger generation" for their "lack of loyalty". Remember there is no HR, and things typically devolve into semantic "he said/she said" ordeals. The list goes on...
