I worked at Zoic full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great friendly atmosphere and most people are excited to drive the company forward. Management is starting to listen to people and are moving the company in the right direction.

    Cons

Lots of inefficiencies, many of which are because of time constraints or "because we've always done it this way". A few more developers or emphasis on training technical artists would do the company well. Accepting open source, both contributing to and and using, would benefit the company as well.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your heads of pipeline, they are working hard and want the company to succeed.

I have been working at Zoic full-time

    Pros

Good culture, great people to work with, decent pay

    Cons

Seems like the company is not getting any new large projects lately, only very low end TV shows, the company has lost all of its hige end shows and is unable to get new shows that respect the talent this company holds and is loosing talent as well.

    Advice to Management

Loosing your film department was a big mistake and the complete lack of high profile TV projects is just waisting great artists also the talk that some of the executives are unliked in the film industry is definitely not helping Zoic.

I have been working at Zoic full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Open team environment with some great senior artists and IT minds. High end global TV projects. Management pushing to improve pipeline, software, and rendering. Great coworkers from all over the world. Decent kitchen. Nice Gastown location near transit. Pay OT after 8hrs and offer OT dinner if you work 12hr shift or on the weekend.

    Cons

The occasional bad project with unrealistic clients and deadlines. Cramped quarters, one of the two offices can have temperature, noise, and smell issues, especially during the summer. Unclear company mission with LA head office and creatives.

    Advice to Management

    Global team BBQ

I have been working at Zoic full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with, Leads really care about your success and help you in every way. Lots to learn and do.

    Cons

Communication and IT. They limit your computer use tremendously (no changing wallpaper, wifi is heavily filtered and blocked....) I feel IT doesnt know what they are doing and they have very very poor communication skills.

I worked at Zoic full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The head of roto/prep department is excellent. He is very considerate and understand each of his team member's capability and assign shots accordingly. The department provides training for artists
to work on during their free time. The leads are friendly and very helpful. They guided me through the workflow and how to set up and output shots the Zoic way. I left the company because they ran out of work but after I leave my lead and head both offered me help on recommendation and reference letter which got me a new job. Thanks a bunch!

    Cons

No cons. Friendly environment. Nice people.
-The only thing that might be a con for me is the show I was working on wasn't a top quality show
when it comes to visual effects. But besides that everything else is great.

    Advice to Management

    Good job. Keep it up.
