I worked at WSIB full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The pay and benefits are above the market.

    Cons

There are TOO Many: hiring and training practice is discriminatory as they recruit and promote only their own or affirmative action through favoritism and nepotism, employees with lots of seniority that may do practically nothing at all, management that is not only incompetent but can be corrupt, outsource tech that dysfunctions and legacy systems that are useless, serious hr related problems, petty co workers and... co workers that are mentally unstable and unprofessional and a workplace suffering from no morale and below average working conditions.

I worked at WSIB full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Great benefits and excellent salary

    Cons

Unreasonable demands on new adjudicators...they believe in a baptism by fire learning method but refuse to understand that many people do not learn that way. Very narrow minded way of thinking. Also, if you are not a new university graduate and you happen to be older than 40, they will discriminate against you. If your manager doesn't like your face, it's over for you really quickly. They acknowledge issues with... their training program yet fail to do anything about it. Some, not all, of their managers are narrow minded and fail to see the world beyond WSIB. If you don't fit into their mold they will do anything to get rid of you. My manager purposely set me up for failure, it was blatant. Despite the salary and superior benefits, it's a toxic environment which is rather unfortunate.

I worked at WSIB full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

No Pros. If you want to earn money without doing any work then this is the place for you.

    Cons

    1) There is lot of nepotism and favoritism when it comes to hiring and promotion. 2) Feels like you are working in 1980s. Nobody responds to emails, you have to go to each and everyone's desk to get things done. 3) Employees come to office at 9am and leave at 3pm. Nobody is bothered about work and well being of injured workers. 4) Directors have links with hiring agencies and get commission for hiring... candidates from their favoured agencies. 5) Lot of internal politics within different departments which hampers any kind of work progress. 6) Toxic work culture and non-white immigrant employees are treated very badly.

    Advice to Management

Please stop ruining lives for innocent injured workers and if you any shame left, please make your employees atleast from 9 to 5 like other regular people do.
