Pros

I started out at Unify Interactive as an intern in June of 2015. Since that time, I have learned a great deal about what it takes to be a designer in the field. From idea searching/brainstorming, to wireframing, designing, prototyping, and managing your projects, I was able to learn about the little parts that compose agency life. I also spent some time learning about creating relevant social media content for clients. Looking beyond the work, this company has a great culture. Each morning, everyone on the team comes together as a group to discuss things to improve (what is not working in the company) and things to celebrate (what is working well). This open environment allows all team members to feel healthy and comfortable with one another.

Cons

Sometimes, the workload can become very heavy. At the time of this review, there are five of us in the office working. Due to the agency size, when the work comes in quickly, you will have to be prepared to take on several different types of tasks in a short timeframe. This can become stressful if you are caught off-guard.

Pros

As this company is extremely small, an inexperienced person will gain experience in many different venues of their field, and be given more responsibility more quickly than would occur in a larger company.

Cons

Many, bit I will list what I consider to be the biggies. -The CEO/Creative Director is very emotional, paranoid, and overall difficult to work with. Not a bad person by any means, but it felt as though a very large part of the job was stepping on eggshells around his ego. -Due to the above mentioned attitude, the atmosphere of our small team became very toxic. I was asked several times to report in the activities and conversations of several team members in my boss's absence. -I was asked to do things I felt were immoral, such as plagiarize. I was also told to fabricate a 5-Star Glassdoor review shortly after commencing employment. I will be asking for this review's removal. -I was consistently shamed for leaving at quitting time, and not staying and working unpaid, undocumented overtime. -I was falsely accused of coming to work high, because I was tired and my eyes were "glassy". This was not a one on one conversation, but a blatant accusation in front of another team member, with no conversation beforehand.

At Unify, a family like environment is important to us, even more importantly, one of our core missions is to help our team learn vital emotional intelligence in the workplace they can carry with them for a lifetime. In a professional career these soft skills are proven invaluable. Being on time is stressed for all employees, and those who are not on time are asked to stay late to make up the time. We have always communicated this clearly and have been very fair with both hourly employees and salary employees such as yourself. We extend lunches for weekly hikes/outings or team luncheons, and never ask to make that time up. We do our best to make sure no one is taken advantage of. Rarely do people ever stayed late in our office and if so they are either Salary or paid hourly. In most agency environments it is commonplace to work late hours. We pride ourselves on having a work/life balance. All interns that transition into a full time role at Unify receive at least 50% above minimum wage to start. You role was no exception. We have created a system to stay in connection with an ESU standard that works with businesses to employ fair wages in our area. We continue to raise the bar for college students looking to gain experience. Thank you for your feedback.
