I worked at The Body Shop full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Product discounts and occasional free products for team with npd launches

    Cons

Not enough hours for p/t employees, not competitive pay for associates. Workload is unrealistic sometimes with the hours given. Shipment and delivery inconsistencies, consistently sold out of “hero” products and customers are kept on wait lists for ever. Systems and processes are outdated. High waste of products- from products being opened and used. More support needed from corporate business partners with recruitment...

I worked at The Body Shop part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great company values, loved all the causes supported during the Christmas season.

    Cons

Like any retail job the hours aren’t that great. Schedules are posted only two weeks in advance.

I have been working at The Body Shop part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Access to good skincare products

    Cons

Head office tries to imply various euphoric techniques that a consultant can never achieve with the demographic that comes to the stores

    Advice to Management

Talk to your consultants and get their input because they deal with the customers not you.

I worked at The Body Shop part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Got a 50% employee discount on all products and co-workers were always helpful and nice

    Cons

Manager had crazy mood swings, it would like working with a ticking bomb. I would walk in everyday not knowing whether she would be nice or excessively angry. Products were to be promoted as all natural and tolerable, but have ingredients that can cause some serious irritation. All products are also overpriced and so the 50% employee discount was like regular price.

I have been working at The Body Shop part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great first job for college/high school students. You learn a lot about how a business works and there is some room to move up when working part-time (customer consultant to key holder). Also good 50% off employee discount.

    Cons

Low pay for what is expected for you to do at times. Was expected to train a bunch of new employees, was paid the same amount as them despite being a key holder. Pay is "non-negotiable". High turnover at some locations with some interesting co-workers that do not stay too long. Depending on your location, sales targets may be very difficult to reach.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to who you are hiring to avoid such a high turnover. Provide accurate compensation for employees who have more responsibility.
