I worked at Sparta Systems full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are what make this company, I was able to meet so many great folks.
401k rocks! Also great benefits !
Good competitive pay if you are in sales. The incentive is there if you can stick with it and make things happen. They pay for people who perform. (May take awhile however).
Snacks, drinks, events...all good stuff. Spirit committee is DAMN good!
Beautiful facility. The summer months are the best, you can smell the flowers in rural Hamilton. HQ is really nice.
Great product that is an industry leader in the space. Everyone knows trackwise. Especially cloud product offering. Stratus looks so sleek.

    Cons

Owned by private equity, so your just a balance sheet to them.
Cloud offering is expensive for how green they are in this market.
Cloud offering is late to market. Stratas JUST added doc management module.
It's hard to disrupt a new market with a really expensive product. This market is too competitive to charge such a premium for your product without the ability to discount heavily for smaller companies.
Cannot rely solely on Trackwise reputation to enter cloud market and dominate. Mid market customers aren't always keen to Sparta Systems and the benefits and costs of what they are getting.
Annual subscription? How about monthly agreements as well as concurrent users ( I think that's the model). 1200 dollars a named user? Ouchh!
Marketing department acts like they have a ball and chain attached to both legs, reminding me of sad prison inmates.
Very little training on new products AND industry for sales staff.
Disconnected departments that say they are willing to help but never actually integrate at all. Not for lack of trying.
    My fingers hurt!

    Advice to Management

Continue to innovate and learn, and hopefully learn quickly! What do customers wants and how can we deliver in a competitive way. Also, give the reigns over to sales reps when negotiating pricing. This technology isn't anything new or exciting. Stop trying to create some allure around how we can help their business. It comes down to price, there is no real competitive advantage, especially from 123C and stratus. So whats the bottom line? Price. Let the reps make some money, we can afford to go lower.

    Pros

Great culture, everyone is engaged. CEO has created a clear vision for everyone to move towards. Colleagues and management are enjoyable to work with.

Working with legacy and cloud products can be confusing with how to support them and present options to customers
