Pros

This is a company that is full of great people, for the most part...

Cons

As they say that it only takes “one bad apple spoils the whole bunch” and when that bad apple is the owner, you get SimplePart. Job hunters BEWARE. Take heed to the reviews here, particularly the bad ones; I didn’t and I regretted greatly. SimplePart will sale you on two things, growth and culture. They will make you believe that the company is great place to be with this really open and laidback environment, and it is, until Cole gets his panties in a wad. But who is Cole? Cole Getzler is the owner of SimplePart, AKA the “supreme leader” of the company. He is the know all and say all when regarding the day-to-day activities (literally the day-to-day task). At first, you think that it is a good thing that the owner of the company is involved, but as you try to help lead the company, you swiftly learn that he is THE REASON that SimplePart only claims about .5% of the eCommerce parts market; and he is THE REASON SimplePart will only ever see status quo, IF they are lucky. Why is it SO bad under Cole’s reign? Well, Cole finished college around 1998 and he couldn’t hack a real job. Admittedly Cole is smart, but he lacks a modern technological skillset and he is scared to innovate, which is troubling since he owns a technology company. I could go on for quite some time, but I don’t want this to look like a rant. These are sentiments shared throughout the building but no one can speak their mind (because Cole really does get mad and acts like a child). And please don’t look to support from the senior leader under Cole, the president of the company. I would say he doesn’t have the backbone to stand up to Cole, but I get it; he really just wants to keep his job. And there are people that work well with Cole. Be wary of those people, they are snakes and WILL throw you under the bus when given the chance. Of course, there are good things about the company, like free lunch Friday and company-paid health care, and, um, well; that’s all I can come up with. BUT, if you want that for sub-par pay and micro-management, then SimplePart may be a great place for you to work! Just make sure you are good at saying ‘Yes sir’ when Cole speaks and get used to it being your fault if things go awry; even when it was the Supreme Leaders idea!

Pros

Free lunch Friday, dog friendly, coworkers are great , free parking downtown or reduced mass transit passes.

Cons

The CEO disrespects and berates employees, has unpredictable moods, pushes back hard on attempts to have schedules, requirements or process, starts fires and crises and then expects the entire company to stop and fix things. He changes production code in real time without any documentation or process, and only knows micro management of others. He thrives on keeping the office fragmented. The President is extremely territorial and protects his empire at all costs. He needs to be the one in charge and the one with the solution. He very creepily directed conversation at one of our first lunches out to try and get me to discuss my sexual orientation. Employees are not empowered, are too distracted by the crisis du jour to fix bugs, close security holes, or innovate to the level that this team can reach. The employees there are rock stars if only they would be allowed to do their jobs. The declared M. O. of this company is that they will not work with deadlines. Planning and management are impossible, as is documentation. The work environment prevents any focus. Anyone credentialed for any domain specialty or expertise will never be allowed to apply standards or best practice because leadership won't allow it. This truly is a company where everyone hopes to not have to interact with management, but they have no choice and the employees suffer because of it. Some there are even be afraid to do any work not specifically tasked in writing by leadership because the leadership has a tendency to forget what was asked for or they will be raked over the coals for reasons that leadership spontaneously creates.

Pros

The only pros I could think of is if they actually delivered on their promises presented on their job postings or things said during interview.

Cons

Salary well below industry standards.. not sure what previous reviews were talking about. Everyone definitely does NOT get 100% full benefits. Management loves to continually talk poorly about previous employees. Absolutely no respect or professionalism. HIGH turnover people either quit or are let go before their 90 days are up. Wal-Mart employees are treated better.
