I have been working at Peninsula full-time

    Pros

The People you meet. The quarterly meetings that were held quarterly in the first two years.

    Cons

Would not recommend this place. The truth is that this product is not what they make it out to be. Templates, once sold they do not support the product. Junior reps working the 24 hour desk. Favourtism is the number one thing for Management. If they like you = $$$$$$$$$. However 95 % of staff do not fall in this category. Micro-Managing is unreal. Everymove you make is questioned. They market the program well however this is not an HR company. They do not have an internal HR department. Great marketing company, they hook you and when they have have you, they are done..

I have been working at Peninsula full-time

    Pros

The product is brilliant, and there are some incredibly talented colleagues that work very hard to ensure the business grows and prospers. There was at a time when we had an amazing work culture where you felt appreciated, motivated, and most importantly trusted.

    Cons

When the company launched here, the management had a vision. They knew that building a team was not going to be easy but were willing to take chances and trust the people they hired. They also realized that they would have to adapt to a Canadian mindset as "when in rome..." Unfortunately, that has not been the case for some time. Any organization that expands to a different country needs to realize that when you operate somewhere new, the mindset, culture and requirements of the employees will be different. You cannot bring your values and mindset and enforce it on them. There must be balance and mutual acceptance. The challenge with the Canada operation is that the head office and senior management do not trust their employees. Every thing is micromanaged, from calls, reports, emails, breaks and more. You are always concerned about losing your job since the key motivator the business chooses is fear. You are also most certainly at risk of being punished for writing new business. Commissions are not paid out until 9 months after, and only if conditions are met (even though technically it’s wages earned). If you look at the responses from them in the other reviews you will see that they blame the person and demean them for not taking the opportunity to succeed. There is no sense of acceptance or willingness to change. And that is the company's biggest flaw. There are many people that work in the business tirelessly. We are not 9 to 5 employees. We are expected to work as many hours needed and we are told this is the best job you will ever have. This could have turned into something beautiful, but what has transpired in the last few months will surely be a case study on how to effectively destroy a business with poor decisions. The blame will always be put on those working the hardest, instead of those that should be held accountable. At Peninsula, you are only as good as the last deal you sign. Lastly, even though we sell Hr services and always advocate the importance of having HR solutions in the workplace, we do not have our own internal HR person with whom we can share our concerns as employees.

    Pros

Great opportunity when I first started

    Cons

Micromanaged, unappreciated, expendable. New management team does not care about their most important asset- the staff.
