    I worked at Parallels full-time

    Pros

    - The company is unique in its market niche and provides valuable solutions. - The technical level of RnD is quite high, a lot of talented and highly educated people work there. Possibilities to get valuable experience. - It's not one of those "corpy corps" that treat employees like cogs. The attitude toward subordinates and peers is positive and humane (not talking about higher management here). Issues get... resolved easily, hours are semi-flexible, in case of emergency there's an option to work from home. - The company is young enough to allow for career opportunities.

    Cons

    - Still lots of growing to do, organization and processes wise. - Employees are always loaded with tasks, sometimes working overtime is highly expected and there's lack of reward for all the hard work. No bonuses, just regular salary which is not above market. - Higher management is not interested in resolving long-term issues with working environment in RnD office, for instance issues with parking and air... conditioning. - They try to promote company "options" as bonuses and are over-promising going IPO "soon" each year, but they never do. When asked, they turn it around and argue that all the company needs to finally go IPO is for employees to work harder.

I have been working at Parallels full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

-Excellent life/work balance -Premium/Competitive benefits -Expansive opportunities for internal growth -A clear directive from management/executives -Under Corel, there are constant cross-functional opportunities for those who seek it -Internal culture is friendly and transparent

    Cons

Many Parallels employees are high-functioning and have high-output for their productivity. So, a new employee or junior hire who may be entering early in their career may feel left behind without meticulous supervision and constant alignment. Merging of systems with new acquisitions or internal system changes is difficult to keep up with but it's clear the change is always to the benefit of the employee.

    Advice to Management

Communication could be improved. Please, continue the deep understanding of employee needs and frustrations. Surveys and follow-ups are great - but over-communicate future change versus after-the-fact to help every employee be prepared on what to expect to ensure the continuation of high-quality output.

I worked at Parallels full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Decent salary, good company culture, interesting job

    Cons

Lots of mini-corporate culture nonsense, the company sold out its business units in 2016-2017 to other corporations, so now it's a very different company.
