Pros

Working at OFS is like stepping back in time to the 1950’s. If you are a white middle-aged republican male, here are some of the many perks you will enjoy working for this company: -A non-existent harassment enforcement policy -No sales ethics training (worth mentioning…) -The ability, especially if you are a part of the ownership family, to issue edicts on a whim and expect that the entire workforce drop everything and comply even if it is a complete waste of time. Bonus points if you decide that the new “initiative” is to be enforced only selectively. Extra bonus points if you constantly talk about how much it cost the company and provide that as the only justification of the initiative. *Be sure and start all over again with a new initiative a few months later…and so on… -The permission to hire female colleagues not based on performance, but on looks and the potential for overt workplace flirtation, whether you are married or not -The encouragement of your manager to “fudge” expense reports -The freedom to ignore your employees’ concerns about quality, timeliness, and customer support because your brother is working on it, and “there are worse companies to work for” -The obligation to dismiss female employees’ concerns as being “too negative”, “too reactionary”, and “too strong”. Basically, you want to hire women that are always compliant and agree with all of your opinions. *But, be sure they are not promoted -You’ll be able to sleep at night because you used the video of your grandma talking about how much integrity the company has and how important your people are, so that will help everything wash out in the end

Cons

See above: if you are an intelligent and hard-working person of integrity working here WILL affect your sleep at night. PS the benefits are terrible.

Employees are not valued

Pros

*It's a job. They paid me on time.

Cons

*Employees are underpaid and on top of that, raises are non-existent. They don't realize that the cost of living is higher in NC than it is in the middle of nowhere, Indiana. *Turnover rate is extremely high. Management gets off on constantly hiring and firing new employees. After 6 years, barely anyone was still there from when I started. This is equally true for both the NC and IN locations. *No room for advancement. It's a career dead end. *Management is poor and borderline abusive to employees. I don't enjoy getting cussed out by my boss. It wasn't uncommon to see ladies in order entry and customer service in tears after being accosted by their tyrannical ruler. *Management is extremely cheap and will do whatever to go for the cheapest possible "solution", even if it's a terrible idea. Equipment and software and old and extremely outdated. *Poor work \ life balance. Employees are expected to respond within a moment's notice after hours, even if one isn't on call. *You may get to travel, but don't get too excited as Jasper, Indiana is one of the most boring, depressing hick towns on earth. I dreaded having to go there. There is nothing to do there except for drink, which is basically all they ever do there. *Run by a family that is as incompetent as they are tyrannical and feared by their underlings. *They are a company that makes furniture, but they cannot be bothered to update the furniture in their own offices even when it is desperately needed. *The furniture they make isn't even comfortable or pleasing to the eye.

Pros

It's a job. They will hire just about anyone.

Cons

No raises (only cost of living adjustments). No room for advancement. No communication between management and people on the floor. Upper management/ owners have no interaction with employees. No incentive to work harder. Turnover rate is extremely high.
