    Pros

Laid back atmosphere with good hours of operation. Friendly and easy to get along with co-workers.

    Cons

Much of the knowledge/training required to actually perform on the job is on you to learn yourself.

    Advice to Management

Needs more extensive and thorough training.

    Pros

Great relationship with co-workers, everyone is really friendly and you make some great friends. Not too strict or lenient, managers are very willing to accommodate your needs.

    Cons

Hard to know all the technologies and all the specifics about every shoe when not working a lot. But all co-workers and managers are willing to help you out a lot.

I worked at New Balance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I liked the employee discount and the friendly atmosphere with my fellow coworkers. We had sales goals but it was not a do or die sales environment.

    Cons

Crappy crappy salary and terrible hours. I was a full timer and half of my time there barely worked 24 hours. It was pathetic really.

    Advice to Management

Keep up with the training and product knowledge. Please have the management have more contact with the employees. I never heard from my manager what I was doing right or wrong.

I worked at New Balance full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great brand with a long history of fit and comfort in the Athletic Footwear business. The brand is well managed from the US and has solid business operating principles and practices.

    Cons

New Balance trades on it's history too much. The brand has a strong following in the older demographic range making it difficult to compete in the team and youth markets where margins and launches are more likely to prosper.

    Advice to Management

Decide what you want to be as a brand and meant it. The consumer is smart, the consumer has choice and the consumer ultimately will determine your success. Focus on the consumer and what you want to be as a brand.

  10. "Great team work and atmosphere. A real family atmosphere with people up and down willing to support you."

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Privately owned, make the hard decisions that are best for the long term good of the company and customer. Very flat hierarchy, everyone is approachable.

    Cons

If you do not like growth, fast pace, learning daily, freedom to fail, and accountability, look elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Keep the veterans to help maintain the culture, keep the training up to activate and engage the youth. Keep caring for your people, to keep the masses and keep improving on quality.

I worked at New Balance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Awesome free swag
    - Great people to work with
    - Positive & teamwork-oriented culture
    - Management that actually cares... doesn't just pretend to

    Cons

    - It's in retail... so customers are always going to be demanding and annoying
    - Customer service standards higher than in most of retail, can be pretty demanding
    - As with most retail jobs, hours suck (Sundays, evenings particularly at downtown store)

    Advice to Management

Not much that I would do different... keep the "family" vibe. Maybe implement regular performance reviews so people know where they're at.
