    Cons

Work / Life balance is something that Mercer makes employees aware of, but the companies goals and expectations may make striking the right balance a challenge a times.

I worked at Mercer full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Big global firm so lots of career opportunities

    Cons

The cost cutting strategy for the last 5-7 years has seen them pay as low as possible which has seen many good people leave. It has also resulted in people being chronically overworked

    Advice to Management

Start investing in people again. Its what made the company great in the first place

I worked at Mercer full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Well laid out expectations for what'll make one a successful employee.
    - Friendly colleagues.

    Cons

    - Really a place to go and work if you want to use non of your creative or imagination skills.
    - Performance is 90% based on how many hours you work.
    - Nature of projects are dull and not challenging.
    - There is no real 'solution' this department provides. It's just agreeing to what the Executive Compensation clients demand so they don't go to a competitor.
    - The job doesn't contribute to creating new thought or improving things in the field. It's essentially social and economic redundancy. Unfortunately that is the nature of compensation consulting in general. If you have a sense of imagination, don't work here.
