I have been working at MPC for more than a year

    Pros

Amazing people, you can learn a lot and gain a lot of knowledge, its like a melting pot of people with diverse set of know how and hacks and cheats to finish your work quickly and properly. And they pay for taxi if you leave after 11pm

    Cons

Montreal (quebec) have a high tax and cost of living, unless you have a family, the city is quite unaffordable to life in comfortably

    Advice to Management

It would be nice if we were informed about the exorbitant amount of tax we have to pay just to work in montreal

I have been working at MPC full-time for less than a year

    Pros

A leader in the industry, you get to work on really big budget blockbuster films. The building is beautiful, the staff is young, you get small perks like friday beers and complimentary breakfast.

    Cons

Contract work only meaning no job security. Lots of unpredictable overtime.

    Advice to Management

Valuing your employees with better benefits and more job security would create stronger teams.

    "A very mixed bag"

    StarStarStarStarStar

    I worked at MPC

    Pros

Possible to work on big projects and gain experience quickly. Opportunity to work on some decent shots for your reel. Most of the artists are nice people and the work is creatively rewarding. Paid OT.

    Cons

Very low pay with little chance of a raise. Mismanagement of projects, schedules, and people. Sometimes it is like being in the twilight zone seeing junior artists given multiple insanely difficult and long shots that they are struggling with, while more senior artists are idle and begging for work. Deceptive practices to get employees to sign on or stay. Any verbal promises won’t be honored unless you can... get it in writing and everything HR says should be taken with a big grain of salt. Corporate lip service to things like employee mental health when artists and coords are treated as numbers and not as people. People are always quitting or being replaced. 40-50% across departments have quit within the last year. This includes artists, supes, leads, coords, all of HR, immigration, and even the people in charge of employee retention. The company doesn’t care since they see everyone as replaceable but are blissfully ignorant that some of the people who left were saving them a lot of money with their specific skill sets.

    Advice to Management

You can do better. MPC’s name is pretty toxic in the industry now because of how the treat their employees. Stop setting up the departments and artists to fail by understaffing them or incentivizing them to backstab each other. The policy of severely underbidding and then expecting overworked and underpaid artists to save the day while on an outdated and slow pipeline isn’t working. The clients are catching... on since so many recent projects have delivered late and with inconsistent quality and the fault lies at the top.
