It's All Smoke and Mirrors
May 25, 2023 - BusniessAnalyst and Marketing Manager in Toronto, ONRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Benefits are very good having a pension plan and RRSP dental and medical. Also having a health spending account of $350
Cons
However, certain colleagues display an excessive amount of arrogance and conceit, which significantly diminishes the pleasantness of our work interactions. The workload is high and so many useless meetings that management has asked to give 5 minutes buffer before starting the next meeting. It's insane. I have nothing good to say it's just a horrible company. Now were even forced to go into the office. Last year management said that it was up to the department to choose what will work best for the team. They just lie and push. Having house and car insurance with Intact is high you better go elsewhere they claim they give a discount to employees it's not true. If you are fresh out of school they're going to hire you and work you to the core just look elsewhere and you will thank me.

Good Retirement Benefits Work From Home Option
Cons
The company touts work & lifestyle balance but the truth is it’s all about the companies needs. Employee needs are way down the list. They like to state at every opportunity that they are on the list of 100 best companies in Canada but they have to be near the bottom of that list!

Terrible management, system and non-inclusive environement
Jan 31, 2023 - Senior Data Scientist in Montreal, QCRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Benefits are pretty good, and the employee share plans is better than a lot of companies that I've seen previously. Team members are more than willing to help. But some colleagues are extremely arrogant and conceited, making the work interaction unpleasant. Especially as they try to correct everyone on the smallest mistakes they have made. A lot of those mistakes were immaterial and doesn't change the result of the analysis. However, them appearing to be right is more important than the team moral according to them. Those same individuals seldom have a condescending tone making the work environment toxic.
Cons
I've been working at intact lab for over 5 years and switched teams 3 times. First 2 directors were fair, but the last one was terrible and inexperienced. Would definitely not refer any of my peers to this team/department. The system architect where the data is store and extracted through multiple platform is a pain to work with. The French culture is everywhere in the company. English-speaking employees don't feel as welcoming. Some passive-aggressiveness is shown during meetings when we are only 1 or 2 individuals in the meeting that don't speak French, as that force the group to speak in English. Sometimes, we are just entirely ignored and they have their conversation in French. Extremely unprofessional and non-inclusive workplace behaviour. The pay is also low.

Remote work Overtime hours and pay Provide equipment Good manager Good training Growth opportunities within the organization
Cons
Busy seasons can be hectic There will be rude customers, but managers are supportive and you can take mental health break. Have to stay on role for one year before moving up in organization

Pros
Great benefits Work from home opportunities Flex days + vacation is really good Great learning experience for employees looking for growth or entry level opportunities Opportunity to work on different projects Diverse culture + great with mental health Great time environments
Cons
Management should listen to ABAs more often on what they feel is a better sop which may improve more productivity. -you may feel less challenged once you get used to the job -your tasks are completed based off other vendors responding quickly to your request and/or adjusters providing accurate information otherwise, you can see an increase of delayed tasks that are approaching specific deadlines. -management changes the processes without understanding the position of the ABA role -no time to yourself some days if you get more than 17-20 tasks, in other words, it feels like never ending laundry. No matter how hard you work one day you will realize the next day you have the same or more work to complete. It can eventually becoming mentally draining and demotivating. -queue system should be changed since being on the phone for 2 hours to answer calls but unable to assist claimants who are hoping to be helped really isn't fair to us or the claimant that is looking for next steps or answers to their inquiry. -productivity structure is unrealistic and makes you feel like you're not doing enough when you're going above and beyond on daily basis.

Pros
Health coverage is ok but you pay for it
Cons
Management in IT is the worse that i’ve seen in my hole life. Had to quit because of the micromanagement and favoritism. working hard won't get you up the ladder, you gotta get down on your knees and beg for it. Career advancements are totally wrong, they tell you this over and over again but will do absolutely nothing for you to evolve. Not to mention the work overload. This company is completely in the appearance, enormously favors Quebecers and makes people of race work much more. Not to mention the mandatory RTO. A real nightmare.

Pros
Work/Life Balance, Benefits, Flexible work hours
Cons
Career Development is non-existent. HR does nothing to help you manage your career or help you achieve your career goals. HR and current IT management is terribly incompetent which is so unfortunate because Intact attracts great talent that end up quitting. Providing constructive feedback or solutions is like blowing in the wind - nothing improves. The culture is dull and unexciting, almost depressing and Intact will not invest in employee engagement such as social events even though they know it is at an all-time low according to survey results. They don’t walk the talk and I personally feel that it is getting worse with time. It wasn’t like this a couple years ago.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. While we appreciate your positive acknowledgment of our benefits, work-life balance, and flexible work hours, we're disappointed to hear about the rest of your personal experience. Giving our team members everything they need to be and do their best is a top priority here. In IT, we support a continuous learning culture with many options for development—whether it's free in-house technical training, paid courses, special projects, team rotations, or joining one of our communities of practice—there is always a new challenge to tackle, skill to master, or concept to learn. Most importantly, everyone is encouraged to have open discussions with their manager about career and development goals so, together, they can find meaningful ways to achieve them. If more guidance or support is needed, you can reach out to your HR Consultant to discuss needs and concerns. They are skilled advisors who can help foster positive solutions. We wish you all the best on your continued journey with our team.
