Lots of growth opportunities: job options, skills development, courses, education subsidies, special projects, employee networks, volunteering opportunities. However you want to advance your career or skills, there is an option for you. Fantastic co-workers and collaborators. Wherever they may be or whatever team they work with, my experience with people here has been nothing but positive. Managers who care about you. Period. Great work is recognized here. Good benefits, salary, and perks. The employee share purchase plan is an awesome financial perk.

Cons

Workload can be heavy at times. But in my experience, managers are always open to discussing solutions and are supportive of good work life balance. People just need to speak up if they are feeling pressure.

It has strong employee engagement. It is a champion community support and environmental responsibility. This company makes it easy for employees to want to give back 110% and bring their best to the table each and every day. I appreciate the work/life balance

Since there is such opportunity for career growth at Intact, this can lead to a lot of change at the Team level.

There are almost no opportunities for growth or learning, so it's a good place to work if you're near retirement, but not when you're building your career. It's heavily bureaucratic and getting any decision made within a reasonable amount of time, even for large organizations, is nearly impossible. Because most of the Directors have been there for decades, there isn't much enthusiasm for innovation, in fact, if you suggest it, you get branded as someone who's rocking the boat. Most of the HR folks are unhappy with their jobs and their managers, but it's too comfortable to leave, which is why you'll see a ton of movement between teams... to get away from one toxic environment just to find out the other HR team is even worse.

1. Amazing work-life balance. The company is set to really strive for the best interest and well being of employees. 2. Input is always considered and taken into account. Employees feel like they are making a difference. 3. Teams work very well together because there is a friendly dynamics all around. 4. Employees are always recognized for their work. 5. Good structure.

Everyone is incredibly friendly and always happy to help. Given how great work-life balance is, the compensation and benefits are fair.

Since I was only onboard for a summer internship, I don't have any cons to share. One thing I would say is that it's a traditional 9-5, there's less flexibility in what hours you want to work.

Extremely complicated work process which makes it impossible to move forward sometimes. No ownership of projects/ products. Questions raised are never answered by the right team/ person. Manager wont care about your career development goal. When you ask how you can accelerate in the team, you get the answer of how you can contribute to another team?!! It's all about politics and flattery, they are keys for a promotion. No one cares about getting the job done the correct way. Company sells insurance, not software, so take it easy.

-Bias towards French-Quebecois men. Even if you are bilingual, if you are more Anglophone and not White French Quebecois, you will have a massive glass ceiling (in the Quebec offices at least). Minorities are clearly at a disadvantage. Actuarial teams mainly male dominated, "white french boys club". -Slow promotion process. not much fast track -Lots of politics, slow to move. Massive company -No free coffee -Outdated technology
