Toxic work place!

Pros

Others are as clueless as you, hence some form of common ground?

Cons

Very ill-managed - they talk about transparency and then go behind your back like it was expected. Your time is not at all valued. What should take 2 days, takes up 2 months easily because the management won't be bothered enough, till some one above them asks for delivery. The people at the bottom of the chain are then blamed for delays. They say they care about their employees whereas the difference between upper management and rest of the staff is like colonialists and slaves. A stark difference in other words. The HR, the upper management and the general office environment is absolutely toxic! The pennies they pay you at the end of the day are just not worth the disgrace. The work is so redundant that once you leave this place, you will realize you didn't learn anything worthwhile. They keep saying that its a expanding company, but by the looks of it, they lose a client everyday?

We are sorry to hear you have had such a difficult experience in our Silver Spring Office. You have touched on a number of issues that are of great concern to us. As we have grown so rapidly, we have worked hard to build our teams in a thoughtful way. However, we don’t always get it right and we acknowledge this with honesty. As we continue to grow as a business we are working hard to take the feedback of our people into account. Whether in the way we assign work, the opportunities for leadership and management training, or career development, we are very focused on building a better experience for our people.

Pros

- Employees who joined before 2025 still got to enjoy full-time working from home, but for those who live within 1.5 hrs transit of any offices they are required to return at least twice a month. - Employee insurance is comprehensive and easily claimed. - Colleagues and team leads are mostly nice and helpful. - Position wise it helps you to gain knowledge on AI, use of GPT, different countries’ companies systems, which are very useful no matter which business or IT fields you are going in in the future. - Everyone use Mac! That’s much better than Windows. - Diverse and inclusive. Got to work with colleagues from Asia, Europe, and all over North America.

Cons

- Discretionary time off is a scam. The company promoted unlimited time off but whenever you need to apply for more than 20 days of paid leave, the HR will use every means to hinder e.g. delayed approval, or give pressures to your team leads to explain . But 20 days standalone is more than industry average. - For research associate there’s a demerit point system for every works you do, and it is purely punitive. Recently they even introduced a snitching system for colleagues to actively send email to others’ team leads to talk about what you have done wrong in each case, no matter how small or big is the mistake. - Salary is super low, compared to the workload coming along. And even though you have maintained outstanding work quality throughout the year and finally got a promotion to senior / manager, the salary adjustment would always be within 5%. Promotion head count is also very limited. And for those who don’t get promoted, expect only $100 rise per year. - Always not given enough time to work, expect frequent overtime working. The company requires OT work to be pre-approved such that you can receive OT pay, which means, any OT works resulted from urgent requests or delays from others that you cannot anticipate won’t get paid. - Now there is no more full time remote position. All hybrid staff are required to return to office twice a week.

We appreciate your time and candid review and we’re sorry to hear that your employee experience in Vancouver is not as positive as we would like it to be for our people. In particular we are sorry to hear that you feel some managers have real work to do. At Exiger, one of our 2019 training and development goals is to launch a manager training series to provide the tools and support for our managers, whether new or experienced, to help them become stronger and more effective people leaders. We will bring back the topic of micromanagement to the team working on developing the training. In the coming months, we will launch the Exiger Diligence CareerGPS Program. This pilot 3-year rotational program will be focused on supporting the continued growth of our research professionals by providing a structured training and mentoring program along with a variety of functional experiences to supplement core research work. The pilot will be launched in our Silver Spring, Maryland office with the goal to roll out globally. During the pilot we will be encouraging our research professionals to provide feedback so that we can ensure the global roll-out is as successful and impactful for our people as it can be. Thank you again for your feedback. We take it seriously and appreciate you taking the time to share.
