Pros

- Good benefits in general - Most positions remote with in-office option - Decent equity rewards depending on job level and solid 401k match - Diverse workforce - Competent and supportive teammates at the IC level and some great managers/leaders across various orgs - Frequent engagement with other teams/orgs - Consistent efforts toward efficiency and innovation

Cons

- Culture became increasingly more rigid and corporate over the last several years. - Strict financial targets and prioritization of AI adoption often created barriers for non-tech teams in need of resources/headcount - Some diminished quality of employee benefits recently - Senior Leadership felt pretty disconnected from what was happening on the ground and resistant to collaboration. Offering feedback felt risky, as it was not always received constructively. Big decisions were made either completely without or contradictory to the input from the people who had to carry them out, which often lead to confusion and rework. - Accountability from leadership was a recurring issue. When projects went off track, the blame tended to fall on individual contributors or partner teams, even when the root cause was poor communication or unclear priorities/directives from above. - Career development was inconsistent and advancement often felt unattainable. Employees were encouraged to take on more responsibility with the promise of eventual growth, but those opportunities didn’t often materialize. - Workloads often felt unbalanced and the tools/processes in place felt outdated and hard to scale, which made day-to-day work more arduous than it needed to be.

Pros

Very collaborative team, encouraging team members and managers. Great experience overall.

Cons

Because most people work remote, sometimes it can be hard to meet immediately to chat.

Pros

You can make good money here.

Cons

In sales, job can change often. For example: I was making good money and excelling because I am a relationship Sales person. Then they changed it to where you get the sale, and instead of being able to grow that account via that relationship you just broke into, you have to pass it to an account manager and go back to cold/robo calling. You "book" of business you recive to prospect from is a lottery. I received a book of prospects/accounts that most of the were low income, or senior living properties. They don't have a budget and have a line of renter on a waitlist. No way to convince them to spend money on advertising but you still have the same quota.

Thank you for sharing such a detailed perspective. We understand that frequent changes to roles, account ownership and business priorities can have a real impact on relationship-building and the day-to-day experience in sales. We’re glad to hear compensation was a positive part of your time at Zillow, and we appreciate you being candid about where the model and structure felt frustrating. Feedback like yours helps us better understand how these changes are experienced across teams as the business evolves.
