Pros
- People are overall nice and supportive - Flexibility in terms of work hours, vacations etc. - Nice offices in a good area
Cons
- Zalando is NOT a product led company. It's a top down feature factory. The senior management dictates what to do. The PM role here is more of a product owner role. They simply do not know how to do product management. - The company is extremely hierarchical. To get simple things done, you need to ask your manager, who will then ask their manager and so on. Very little ownership for PMs (even at a Principal level) - Extremely opague organisation. Most senior management is not approachable. The rationale for the decisions is rarely communicated - The product titles are a joke. More than 50% PMs are principals. In fact they only hire Principals in most teams. In my stint at zalando, I have never seen a PM level 1, 2. There are a few senior PMs, and most others are Principals. This means that principals do not do startegy, but rather very junior level tasks Stay away if you care about your career as a PM
