Bad response to covid on Sales side - Anonymous employee Wiley Employee Review

Lots of bad behavior, even teetering on abusive, with no repercussions. Terrible communication and lots of forced classes, etc. Forced over 100 people to a "Sales Kickoff" event in LA in the summer of 2022, resulting in a super-spreader event. Employees were dispersed to other countries and states sick (as instructed, they were to leave immediately if they did not yet have a fever) and then were given no compensation for hotel rooms they needed to quarantine when they got home (many people had unvaccinated very young children or elderly family members they could not put at risk). The company had to have spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on the SKO event, of which there is enormous social pressure to go, but would not help employees when they needed it most. This was really horrible to see. They are having it again this year despite being on a hiring freeze and not allowing sales people travel "for budget reasons" since the company supposedly mismanaged their money for the past few years. It seems like it can be hard to move to different departments. You manager will find out early in the process and can easily block you from leaving the team. You will also have very little bargaining power, if any, when it comes to increasing compensation, so ask for as much as you can get on hiring--beyond that it is based on annual reviews, and it is all but impossible to get one indicating that you excelled in your role (which I was told directly) even if you go above and beyond your role. I was shut down just when asking for parity with a new colleague who did not have more experience and whom I trained.
