Pros

The opportunity to help people save money so that they can live better. It's great to know that I can be part of such cause. There is also pride in working for the largest company in the world - fortune 1!

Cons

Extremely long hours - Company operates very lean - and often management does not have a realistic understanding of what it takes to accomplish a task. Positions at home office are better - but if you happen to be supporting the field, expect to work hard and long hours. I also find that wm promoted individuals into positions they were not ready to hold - individuals that lack the very core competencies necessary to perform as leaders. Internal promotions still happen at a large scale - more often than not, people that are not suited are put in positions they shouldnt be in. If you are considering WM - do your homework and get to know your future manager before accepting a position. Also, company starts operating very early in the morning - so if you are used to workin 8-5 be prepared to change your routine to 6:30am-7pm.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
