Pros

I began work with WalMart as a sales floor associate, and was quickly promoted. If you are a hard worker and dedicated to your job, it is very easy to move up with this company. Generally, management acts fairly towards associates - those who do a good job are usually recognized for it. I love working with our customers, and trying to help each one. WalMart is certainly not as bad as some would say, and there are some great people there.

Cons

Many customers are downright disrespectful - I've met many who seem to want something for nothing, and that can be annoying. Many of the people I've worked with are burnt-out, bored with their jobs, or never had any work ethic from the beginning - this is the single worst thing about Walmart. If you work in a department surrounded by good people who know their jobs, your job is easy. Otherwise, the associates who do know their jobs and do work hard are often required to pick up the slack for those who don't.

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
