Pros

If you actually show up and work, advancement and job stability is there. Bonuses are good as long as your store manager cares more about themselves.

Cons

-Advancement is random, most of the time you have to know someone or be a kiss ass. Company policy states 6 months before you can advance, had 3 people that were there 2-3 months get promoted ahead of me. -If management comes to you about an opportunity for a different department, 7 out of 10 times its because they just need to fill the interview requirement that company policy mandates, just keep in mind they already HAVE someone in mind. -Pay is a joke. The actual hard working people get next to nothing, as management like myself get way more for doing pretty much hardly anything at all. -Benefits are pathetic, expensive and not to mention the company will do ANYTHING in their power to make sure you dont get benefits. I knew a person that was there for 5 years before she got benefits, the day before she was supposed to get them, she was fired because they claim "a customer said she swore in front of them" with no proof or witnesses. -Availability options are terrible, they dont care if you have children or a spouse that works the same hours. My wife was forced to go overnights so we didnt have to pay for childcare. You HAVE to have open availability from 6am to 11pm to be considered full time. If you are not full time, you get no benefits and always get your hours cut. -Hours are cut every January-March so the upper management gets their bonuses, and we are talking $5,000-$20,000. -Open door is a joke, it solves nothing. Its their way of showing that you dont need a union to speak for you, when in fact you DO. You wont know all of the policies as a union would. If you get pulled into the office and written up for something, you can talk and argue all you want, your dead in the water. My wife was fired because a manager misinformed her of a policy, corporate HR didnt care and was pissed because they kept her employed over the weekend because her manager felt it wasnt fair and wanted to fight for her to keep her job. thats RARE -You dont get the proper recognition for doing your job, they focus on the negative more than the positive. A customer can go up to management and say you are the greatest employee, but once you get a complaint they jerk you in the office and talk to you about it. If you ask why you dont get a pat on the back for getting good customer feedback they just tell you that they dont need to point out every good thing, and thats what you should be doing in the first place. I will leave you with this, there is an employee fund set up to help out struggling employees and their families that associates and management can choose to donate to. When you get EMPLOYEES donating $5 million dollars a year and the OWNERS that are worth collectively around $90 billion only donating $6,000...there is a problem

Pros

Advancement opportunities, great at developing skills, great place to learn a skill and grow your resume, or grow with the company.

Cons

Understaffing issues negatively affects all parts of their business. However, Walmart has increased their minimum hourly rate with hopes to attract more committed employees, and retain better employees.
