Pros
VMware is well established company and brand, well positioned in the market. It's a big american corporation, and gives the opportunity to a lot of people to work here, learn and progress in their careers. And not the traditional corporation, in general a more relaxed environment and people willing to help. It has over the top benefits: - Gym membership - Lunch card on top of your salary - Insurance and dental insurance - 40 hours a year for social service and match your donations to charities - Team building activities - 22 days of paid holidays a year, that you can take when you want. They invest a lot in people's careers, there is always budget for training. You always get the tools you need to work (brand new laptop, 2 monitors, software licenses). VMware cares for their people. The Ireland office was closed and the people affected were relocated to the office in Barcelona, offered another job in Ireland or other office or got the indemnification. Another prove that they care about the people is higher management (senior VPs, directors, country managers, etc) visiting the office. The growth of the office has been exponential, every few weeks there is people joining.
Cons
- There are periods when there is too much training going on. Specially because of VMware always innovating and developing new products that it might be overwhelming. - Change is constant. - The holidays are subject to manager's approval. And there are periods when it's not possible to take holidays (end of quarter for example).
