Pros

I was at UrbanEngineer for 3 years and found it a really great place to start my career in recruiting. Got my foot in the door with various industries and companies ranging from early startups to big corporations. Bridget, the founder, is one of the best at what she does and was a great mentor these past years. She gives lots of opportunities for new challenges/different projects and is always encouraging more learning and growth. She creates great working relationships with her clients and we were often referred by people we worked with. Great place to start in a career in recruiting.

Cons

We started at 7:30am everyday or earlier.

Pros

Stayed here for 4 years, I learned so much, had a great working relationship with the owner. We were friends and worked like a machine. I was paid well, given flexibility and encouraged to grow. I cherished my time working at UE and recommend any person who wants to get their foot in the door in recruiting to consider joining the company. She has a great reputation with companies around the US and a lot of her network is what keeps her and the team busy. Its a small intimate team but I had the opportunity to with small startups to large tech companies, various roles and industries. Come in ready to learn from one of the best recruiters in the industry and grow your career.

Cons

Working from home is not great on physical health, make sure to go for walks.

Pros

Entry into SaaS recruiting with flexible work schedule. Access to LinkedIn Recruiter and a variety of diverse positions. This position is a great way to get into recruiting and the CEO takes a chance on a lot of people without experience.

Cons

Team members are not set up for success (given extremely limited info to source and CEO doesn't review full notes/ spreadsheets). The entire team is also instructed to discriminate across age, race, and gender in sourcing. I was bullied throughout my time at UE and witnessed others go through the same. The CEO takes her stress out on one member of the team at a time and blames them for the mistreatment. She is reactive rather than proactive. So when things are going her way, everything is fine and no training needs to occur. When there is a hint of an issue, it is a result of your intelligence and willingness/ability to learn. I was told in my first week that 3 team members walked out after a performance review and I took her word that it was just those girls causing a problem. There is not high turnover because of a few bad hires. The cycle will continue to repeat itself.

The comments in this review are not accurate. To be clear, UrbanEngineer does not discriminate based on any legally protected status in either our placements or our internal hiring. It’s not who we are or how we operate. It never has been and it never will be. What you left out is that within 11 months you were able to land a job with a marque brand precisely because of your excellent training at UE. You also left out that you were assigned a Recruiting Manager who did work with you and spent considerable time training you. This is a difficult industry and UrbanEngineer has thrived and done a lot of good for so many people. I've trained 30 sourcers. They've all gone on to lucrative and happy careers, most of them my friends to this day. After 25 years in recruiting, my only intention for anyone working for me is a solid foundation. It's what I give each and every associate who has worked for me. I've helped 5 millennials into their first homes with downpayments, not all of them my family. I've taken a homeless person living on a mattress under a bridge to detox, rehab, sober living, vocational training, and helped them after their first few jobs to open their own business, now 8 years clean and sober and getting ready to buy their own property. Now I ask you, what have you done?
